Infectious Diseases

About

Viral hepatitis (A, B, C, D): Inflammatory diseases of the liver. Routes of transmission: contaminated food and water (A); blood (B, C, D); sexual contact (B, C); mother to child (B); sharing personal items (B, C). Our clinic provides Hepatitis B vaccination and full treatment of hepatitis.

Helicobacter pylori: The bacterium that is the main cause of stomach ulcers and gastritis. Modern diagnostic and treatment protocols are applied.

Salmonellosis and rotavirus infection: The most widespread causes of gastrointestinal infections. Because rotavirus causes dehydration especially in children, timely medical attention is essential.

Campylobacteriosis: A bacterial infection transmitted from animals and animal products. It is considered the cause of one in every four cases of diarrhea worldwide.

Influenza and upper respiratory tract infections: Influenza usually ends with a 4-5 day illness period after a 1-2 day acute phase. Severe symptoms lasting more than 3 days indicate a complication. The elderly, children, the immunocompromised and diabetic patients are at high risk.

Measles: A highly contagious viral disease. The rash starts on the face and spreads from top to bottom; unlike allergic rashes there is no severe itching. The most dangerous complication is pneumonia. Both IgM (active disease) and IgG tests are performed at our clinic.

Chickenpox and shingles: In people who have had chickenpox, the virus remains in the nerve cells and, when immunity weakens, manifests as shingles. It mostly occurs in people over 60; the rashes are very painful.

Brucellosis: Transmission mainly occurs through unpasteurized milk, cheese, ice cream and raw meat. Acute pain in medium-sized joints is characteristic. It must always be investigated in patients with joint pain.

Cat-scratch disease: A zoonotic infection caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae. Signs include a skin rash, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, weakness and fever.

Erysipelas: A skin infection caused by streptococci.

Seborrheic dermatitis: A disease seen on the scalp, face, around the ears and on the chest with inflammatory changes, erythema and persistent dandruff. Cold, dry weather and stress are aggravating factors.

Sexually transmitted infections: Examination and treatment are carried out together with our clinic's surgeon and obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Ceyran Imamaliyeva.

Urinary tract infections: Cystitis, pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis. In cases of inflammation caused by a kidney stone, supervision by an infectious disease physician is essential.

Lymph node inflammations: If the lymph nodes enlarge, you must consult an infectious disease physician.

Fever of unknown origin: Patients with a fever lasting more than 3 weeks, above 38.3°C, or whose diagnosis cannot be made in an outpatient setting must consult an infectious disease physician.
